Why do some things take forever?

Warning - rants coming.  Hope you don't mind.

Our son has had some issues as of late again at school.  They come and go, but the school is pushing real hard for "anger management therapy."  His doctor says that isn't what he needs, so we're working on getting him another type of therapy.  Like I've said before, he's being evaluated for ABA.  They have visited his school, and the regional center has approved it.  Now all we're waiting on is the therapists.  They said it could take a few months for them to put a plan in place.  So now that's just a waiting game.

The other waiting game?  We're looking to buy a house.  It's a short sale.  It's kind of ironic, because they take forever.  The homeowner is seriously under on the mortgage.  The bank that holds the loan has previously approved a purchase price, but the byer backed out.  It went back on the market, but we're waiting for the bank to approve it again (at the same price they approved it before).  We put in an offer at the end of October.  We're still waiting on the bank.  They've decided that they need another, newer, evaluation of home prices in the area, even though the one that they have is only a few months old.  Like it's going to suddenly increase to the point that they won't have to take the short sale.  It's rather frustrating.  We'd hoped to start moving in during Christmas break.  Now it's looking more like Spring Break, and that's assuming that the bank decides to approve it.  *sigh*

Glad to see you back. We'd been wondering how life's been treating you folks since we visited briefly with you in your town.

It's strange the twists life brings. Our daughter graduated university with a degree in psychology, and was struggling to find work. This summer, she found a job providing respite care for a familiy with an autistic child, and has since gotten referrals to other families with similar.

Apparently she's doing well, and is close to her charges. (She gets kisses when she comes over - a bit of a breakthrough after the 'testing' phase she percevered (sp?) through).

While reading about some of the challenges a caregiver faces, I found the Zack browser for Autistic / ASD kids and pointed it out to her [ http://www.zacbrowser.com/ ]. She's shown it to her families, and they are pretty excited about how well their young 'uns have taken to it. We're now trying to find a robust tablet PC to run it on, for those time when situations overwhelm and things get thrown about *sigh*.

Just thought I'd mention it in case there is interest.

Good luck with the new home, and Merry Christmas!

Hi Agatha, glad to see you are back.

I initially found your blog through OHW... (I posted on this blog earlier as well... although without a login).

I'm sorry to hear about your weight gain. Due to a lack of PT in my life over the past 6 months due to a foot injury, I also put on some weight... so I know how you feel. Not going to worry about it now though... I will wait until after the holidays, then start working it off again.

I have friends that play Wow. I never took it up. I have a tendency to get hooked on games and it would more than likely piss my wife off too much... so I avoid them.

Good luck with the house, hope it works out for you.

Keep posting, your "mundane" musing are strangely interesting to me.

Take Care!
