I've ordered new hardware!

I'm attempting to save my ear piercing. I 'popped' the hypertrophic scars that were coming up, and pulled the curved barbell out. I used the tea tree oil to help aid in healing. It does smell, though, kinda like kerosene. As it was healing, the back side of my ear went flat, and the front side, almost completely so. It was rather quick, which leads me to believe my problem was the curved barbell.

So, I stuck a regular earring in there. It's not quite long enough, so the back is just barely on, but it's on. It seems to stay on while sleeping, which surprises me. Because of this (and the fact that the bumps haven't shown back up), I ordered a couple of straight barbells. I hope I can get them in when they get here. Earrings are a much smaller gauge than the barbell that I had in (and ordered). I may end up needing to use a taper.

We found out from my sister-in-law that my niece has allergies to certain less-expensive metal studs. When we buy her earrings as gifts, we need to make certain that they use good-quality (10k or better) gold studs. Otherwise, she has problems with the reactions. She also has juvenile arthritis, poor kid, so maybe her body is predisposed to react this way. Just thought I'd mention it in case you are have similar issues.
